What was your first industry job?

Laborer. At seven years old...

How has being a part of NESPA impacted your career?

The easy answer is education. But I think the friendships and relationships we have built are key. To be able to bounce ideas and problems off of other members is priceless.

What are the key skills or traits a person needs to be successful in our industry?

Having a good rapport with people of all walks of life, both our clientele and our labor force. And an ability to think outside the box because there is no manual for the problem solving we have to do daily.

What is your favorite pool project that you have worked on and why?

We built a splash pad for a camp that caters to developmentally challenged children and adults. Many of them could not use the pool on-site, so seeing them enjoying the fountains and games was amazing!

Tell us about your favorite Pool & Spa Show memory?

I love SO much about the Pool & Spa Show. Mostly getting to see everyone in one place in the same Being in the old convention hall back in the mid-'80s. It was the first show I had ever seen, and I was blown away by all the displays and booths as a 14-year-old.

When you aren't working, you are…?

In the woodshop...

What is something that most people don't know about you (fun fact)?

I love classical music

Who inspires you?

My kids. I would hate to start a career right now in this environment, and they are going after it.

What's one thing - either industry-related or not - you learned in the last month?

How to turn a wood bowl with an 1/8" thick rim.

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Linguini with white clam sauce.
